I only keep USA made tools. It's a shame these big companies do not care what the customers want. Is now made in China. I returned it. Bought the newer version of this stapler, model # SX1838K, after reading the reviews on the SX150K. Still a good stapler, but like the reviewer who preferred USA made tools, so do I. It was my fault for not checking where new model was made.
The first thing I did was to load 1-1/2 inch staples into the gun and shoot about 25 of them into 8/4 oak which set the staples flush into the oak without a problem. Best guns I have ever had and I have had a lot of nail guns, and these Bostitch guns are made in the USA not China. I bought a refurbished SX150K for 1/2 the price and IT WAS NEW NOT A MARK ON IT. In the past I have also bought Bostitch oil free 18 and 16 gauge refurbished guns both were brand new and work without ANY problems.
Plus a lot of miss fires happen. You also have no idea how many staples are left or what size they are. I bought the Hitachi stapler, and it's a world of differences. While it is better than my old stapler in some respects, the bostitch line has not kept up with the competition. And that's using the Boxes of Bostitch staples I had bought for the Bostitch gun. A better window would help and is easy to do.
Very smooth operation, good depth of drive, and a nice window to see the remaining staples. I bought this stapler to replace an old Atro stapler and was very disappointed with it. First problem with it was the fact that even on it deepest setting it would only drive a staple about 1/32 below the wood and often only flush, I had to use a nail set to sink to thing. This tool caused a lot of blemishes on my work and had to be shelved, and used only for background work.
Do you feel lucky. Couldn't ask for more. Funny thing, however, this same sales person, when told that I was looking to replace a Craftsman pneumatic stapler, said that owning a Craftsman would be slightly worse than not having one at all. It has done everything I expected it to do. I was lucky and I'd do it again. After reading the reviews here I guess it comes down to luck.
He was right. I've had this stapler for over a year now. No misfires, no problems. I chose this particular one even though the salesman at Home Depot suggested I not pick it.
It'll sink the staples & you can adjust the depth. Frank Nielsen I've purchased tis item last year and it works great, even with a small compressor. Also the staples are galvanized so you can use it outside.
